Dan Weaver

Dan Weaver has 32 years of public accounting experience, including lead auditor responsibilities for clients whose business covers the entire business spectrum. He was with Ernst & Young before starting Weaver & Martin. He is active in local charitable organizations. He graduated with a business degree from the University of Iowa.

Dan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) whose membership elected him to the Accounting Standard Executive Committee (AcSEC) in 2004. AsSEC is the senior committee of the American Institute and speaks on behalf of the membership on accounting and auditing issues. He is a member of the task force that is updating the AICPA oil and gas audit guide. Previously he was a member of the Quality Review Executive Committee as one of only 20 people who set the standards for the initial peer review process for all firms performing audits. He is a past chairman and a founding member of the Missouri Quality Review Executive Committee. Dan is also a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and has served on their Board of Directors.

Mr. Weaver is the past-President and has been a Board Member for ten years with Harvesters, the community food network, where he oversees finances and financial operations. Harvesters distributed 25 million pounds of food in 2005 to over 150,000 local people in need of assistance. Its annual budget including contributed food is over 30 million dollars. He is a former treasurer of the Plaza Kiwanis organization where he organized fund-raising activities for many local charities.

 

Phil Martin

Phil Martin

Phil Martin has 25 years of audit and tax experience including being the Principal in charge of the tax department of Weaver & Martin, LLC. He worked in the Appellate Division of the Internal Revenue Service before starting Weaver & Martin, LLC and is an expert consultant with CPA peers on tax issues.

Along with administering our tax practice, he assists in audits for our largest clients. He graduated with honors from Marymount College. Phil is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Public Accountants and has served on their tax issues committee.

Mr. Martin is active in local charitable organizations and has served on the Board of Directors of Reach-Out America, a local organization that educates thousands of children each year on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

John Samyn

John Samyn

John Samyn has 16 years of audit experience and is the partner in charge of the firm's small business practice for both public and private organizations. He has managed audits in a number of different industries and oversees our staff accountants. He graduated with accounting and business degrees from Benedictine College.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) and is currently President of the Kansas City Chapter of the MSCPA and the Chairperson of the MSCPA Management of an Accounting Practice committee. He was awarded the silver medal for scoring among the highest nationally when he passed the CPA examination.

Mr Samyn is active in local charitable organizations and is a member of the Overland Park South Rotary Club. He has extensive audit, tax and consulting experience with all of our publicly held companies.
